Tucked away in the Ausangate Natural Reserve, the Rainbow Mountain is a breathtaking place that has been considered sacred by local people since ancient times even before the Inca rule, and has been a place of worship and presenting offerings, a tradition that continues alive nowadays.
You’ll depart Cusco before sunlight and travel over the southeast road, stopping to have a fresh breakfast in Cusipata town. As you get closer, you’ll awe at the precious snow peaks of the Andes including the spectacular “Apu Ausangate” glacier, giving you an immediate understanding of why this has become one of the most visited attractions of Cusco. Check out for alpacas, llamas, and sheep on the way!
This tour includes a 3-hour guided hike up the painted hills of Rainbow Mountain, and a walk through the Red Valley. Take the famous Instagram picture on arrival and interact with the locals and their Alpacas partners. Their culture has remained intact throughout history to this day. After lunch, you’ll set off to journey back to Cusco arriving by late afternoon.
