Full Day Excursion

Discovering Apu Taqllo

Following an early-morning pickup, you’ll have a 3-hour scenic road trip with your guide until Sicuani, shortly after you’ll continue the ride passing through the gorgeous Pomacanchi and Layo lagoons until the small town Layo. From this point, you’ll begin hiking up for 2 hours reaching an altitude of 4790 meters, certainly quite challenging but totally rewarding.

As your guide leads you on to the landscape for your walk, learn about these beautiful lands and the unique history and folklore of their inhabitants. Finally, you’ll reach Pallay Punchu del Apu T’akllo, the given local name for this mountain. This spectacular place will have you blown away because of its colored mountains with sharp points, which are geological formations sculpted by time and which resemble an Andean poncho with pigmentation such as red, brown, and magenta; it will give you the feeling of seeing the mountain covered by a huge colorful Pallay poncho (name in Quechua, which means “form of Inca weaving”).

While in the Mountain, you will have plenty of time to take pictures of the breathtaking surroundings including an incredible view over Langui lagoon. Once you’ve explored all over the place, you’ll stroll back to Langui to be taken aside the Pomacanchi lagoon where you’ll enjoy a picnic lunch at your own pace accompanied by the unique and impressive views from the shores. End off with the afternoon return road trip to Cusco.
