Itinerary

Day 1Arequipa to Colca

We’ll meet at your hotel in the morning and begin with a scenic four-hour journey to Yanque. Make sure to have your camera with you, as you will stop at some incredible sights including the Pampa Cañahuas Reserve, which is home to many exotic Andean animals including vicuñas, alpacas, llamas, flamingos, ibis, and the famous Andean eagle. Be amazed by the astounding landscapes as you drive past lakes, glaciers, and some magnificent volcanoes, such as Ampato, Sabancaya, Huallca, and the famous Misti. You will then reach the journey’s highest point of 4,800m (15,000ft).

In the afternoon, spend some time at leisure with a wide variety of activities. You can soak in the hot thermal springs of Yanque, or if that isn’t your thing, you can take a short trek or simply relax in your hotel while taking in the incredible views of the beginning of the Colca Canyon and its terraces.

Day 2Enchanting Colca Canyon - Drive to Puno

Enjoy the sunrise over Colca Canyon! we’ll take a very early morning drive to the most scenic places in the Colca Canyon. This journey will lead you to witness the Mirador Cruz del Condor, the most famous viewing point to look into the depths of the Canyon rising up to around 1,200m! You’ll have a good chance to spot a few condors flying high in the sky, with the amazing backdrop of the canyon in the distance. You will then continue on to Chivay.

From here the journey continues in a comfortable tourist coach to Lake Titicaca, the birthplace of the first Inca, Manco Capac. Along the way, you will be able to appreciate the beauty of the Andes as you pass by some lakes, lagoons, trout farms, and Andean flamingos. When we reach the altitude of 4,850m (12,000ft), you will have unique views over this highlands, whereby you will then head towards Puno.
